RT-MB-001/A is a fully automatic tester which applies the required temperature heating rate of 5 °C/min, detects the specimen position with laser sensor, and records the softening point temperature.
Various modifications of the tester can be used to determine the softening point of bituminous binders (EN 1427, ASTM D36, AASHTO T 53), thermoplastic road marking materials (EN 1871-F, DIN 1996-15), thermoplastic adhesives (EN 1238, NF T76-106), binders for paints and varnishes (ISO 4625-1, BS 6782-6), and resins (ASTM E28).
The tester precisely applies the required heating rate both in water (up to 90 °C) and in glycerin (up to 157 °C).
The tester is controlled by 7’’ touch-screen with multi language user friendly graphical interface that allows easy setup of test settings and monitors in real-time the temperature-time graph. Has built-in memory for saving test results and allows data transfer to a USB drive.
The built-in fan cooling system enables to cool down the hot plate and enables to perform sequent tests quickly.
The tester has a developed multi-point calibration system not only for temperature correction, but also for adjusting the inertia (lag) of the temperature sensor compared to the reference one. It also has the ability to adjust the temperature set mode in the first three minutes in water* in order to adjust the tester by this characteristic to other devices accepted in a particular laboratory as reference.
| Note: *RT-MB-001/A provides heating as close as possible to the recommended temperature increase of 15 °C during the first three minutes in water, however, due to the fact that other devices deviate from this recommendation (as this is not clearly stated in the test method requirements), discrepancies arise during comparative tests. To avoid such a conflict, the device provides the ability to adjust the temperature set mode in the first setup minutes according to any other tester in order to avoid possible discrepancies during comparative tests. |
Besides the above-mentioned calibration features the tester has a system for voltage monitoring with precalibrated parameters to maintain the constant heating rate in operating conditions where voltage supply fluctuations are possible.
