Emulsion Lab Colloid Mill

RT-MB-023 is a high speed and compact colloid mill especially designed for the production of emulsified bitumen in the laboratory. The three-row toothed high-shear mixing unit with a working gap of 0.2 mm in combination with a high speed of up to 8000 rpm guarantees high productivity with excellent homogeneity and dispersion of the final product.

The unit allows producing a sample of up to 2 L. At the same time, the preparation of one sample of bitumen emulsion takes no more than 3-5 min, which allows for the prompt production of several samples in a short time, for example, when testing a bitumen emulsion with different emulsifier contents.

The system ensures complete drainage of the sample without dead residue and is easy to clean, which eliminates contamination of the sample with residues of the previous batches.

Основні риси:

  • - speed control;
  • - high speed – up to 8000 rpm;
  • - one hopper for feeding of water phase and bitumen;
  • - all wetted parts are made of stainless steel;
  • - easy and safe operation;
  • - high product quality similar to industrial production.

Note: The combination of the three-row toothed high-shear mixing unit, working gap of 0.2 mm and high rotation speed of up to 8000 rpm is sufficient to obtain a homogeneous bitumen emulsion with an average particle size of 3-5 μm. However, it is necessary to understand that the dispersion is influenced by many factors independent of the equipment, such as the viscosity and temperature of the bitumen, the content of bitumen in the emulsion, the type and quality of the emulsifier.

Technical specifications

Speed control 3000 – 8000 rpm
Max. throughput at 8000 rpm 46 L/min (2760 L/h)
Max operating temperature* Up to 100 °C
Dimensions (LxWxH) 610x500x500 mm
Weight (approx.) 43 kg
Max. power demand 2200 W
Power supply 220-230 V, 50 Hz, 1 Ph

Note:
* This refers to the temperature of the finished emulsion, i.e. the temperature of the bitumen can be higher, for example, bitumen with a temperature of 150-160 °C can be introduced into the aqueous phase in such a way that the temperature of the finished emulsion does not exceed 100 °C in order to avoid foaming due to water evaporation.
